For all of you who so rightly preach the need for resposible EMS driving... maybe the focus should turn to properly using the parking break... Just found it amusing... I know some guys from that station... boy are they gonna get it from me... :P

Parking break my eye, use the chocks!!!! This happened in my fire district only the engine went into a house. The parking break was set and it failed. (Confirmed my the manufaturer to whom it was sent for repairs.)

Forget the chocks, put some pts ever wanting to help family member in front of it!

(Thats a joke)

It turns out that the Department was pissed that only SAR is authorized in our mountain counties to perform Swiftwater Rescue and decided that they were gonna bust into the field of Water Calls one way or another... :P They are already being called mockingly "Our Cities Finest" by some of the locals... poor FF's.

Maybe they just wanted to draft water from the creek. :P

Operator error caused an Angels Camp fire engine to roll across Highway 4 and into Angels Creek on April 28, according to the results of a pair of independent investigations.

Angels Camp Deputy Fire Chief Greg Petersen said during Tuesday’s City Council meeting that a firefighter failed to set the brake before the truck rolled out of the fire house and into the nearby waterway. No one was injured in the incident.

Petersen said the department conducted its own investigation, separate from one performed by the Angels Camp Police Department, and each inquiry into the incident reached the same conclusion. He told the council any action against the personnel responsible remains to be discussed by department leadership and the city administrator.

California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection was consulted as to how to avoid a similar occurrence in the future, said City Administrator Tim Shearer. Petersen said Cal Fire recommended utilizing chock cradles, and two such units have already been delivered to the department with a third on the way once the damaged engine is repaired.

The engine is awaiting transport to Westates Truck Equipment in Woodland, where it was manufactured, for assessment of the damages from its dip in the creek and the estimated time needed for repairs, Petersen said.

The department is working with the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services to bring in a reserve unit while this engine remains down, Petersen said.

Can we say STUPID? Failed to set the Parking Brake and they don't already use Chocks?

I'd like to say that I'm surprised, but I've never noticed a lot of respect for the weight and power of any emergency vehicles. I had one partner who continually would get so worked up she'd try to get out on scene without putting the transmission in park.
