LifePak FiCO2 Alarm

Descrbing what a fico2 alarm is, is part of their "reccommemded" training evaluations for the LP. They have parentheses with "inspired co2" after it. Guess none of us would pass the eval. :)

Well, yeah FiCO2 is 'inspired CO2'. That's why it's the abbreviation for Fractional Inspired Carbon Dioxide

;)

I have seen our LifePak 15s alert with similar values to the 9-12 listed, but it is a Carbon Monoxide alert. Our fingertip pulse ox probes measure CO as well as oxygen. I think this was what may have actually alerted. It is common for our new folks to read "CO" and think it is carbon dioxide. I am not familiar with the LP15s having anything other than end tidal/waveform CO2 monitoring of a sample airstream. I have seen the CO alerts on heavy smokers and smoke inhalation Pts.

Well, there you go.
I learned something new today. Apparently I didn't know what I was talking about.
