Hi,

I recently found out about the leatherman z-rex, which is a multi tool with a seat belt cutter, oxygen wrench, and glass cutter.

It looks pretty good to me, but it does not come with a case or sheath of any kind.

Is there anyone that has owned or currently owns a leatherman Z-rex and can speak to its durability, usefulness, and how they carry it around?

Thanks

I like that the blades are replaceable. I originally wanted to purchase a pair of leatherman raptor shears but I heard a lot about how difficult they were to maintain, which makes them not worth the expensive price tag. I thought that maybe the z-rex would solve this issue, at the sacrifice of the shears.

My raptors haven't needed any maintenance in the three years I've had them. FWIW.

I clean them when I use them and they work just like they're new.

Try signing up for the Pro discount with Leatherman, it's up to 50% off I believe. The Z-Rex is nice if you don't want to carry shears around, though it lives most of it's life as a glorified oxygen wrench it is occasionally useful for cutting and light prying. I secure it to my pants with one of the shear holster straps.

And raptors are sharpenable too. Before i lost mine, i had the blades ground down amd sharpened to get rid of the nicks
