Since I've seen numerous threads asking how much companies pay I thought I'd create a thread where people can post information they have on companies they just interviewed with or companies they work for. I figure we can include:
1. Company Name, location(s), area(s) of operation
2. pay per hour (for EMTs w/ no experience)
3. how OT is factored (e.g. 8+ = OT; 12+ = 2x; 40+ hours a week),
4. the type of schedule they typically operate for full timers (e.g. 4days/10 hours; 5days/8 hours)
5. ease of picking up extra shifts
6. anything else that may be helpful
Here's the companies I know from interviewing with them:
SHORELINE
Westminster (OC)
BLS/CCT/911 for Westminster
$10/hr ($8 for training; $9 during "probation period" approx your first 6 months)
8, 12, 24 hour shifts available(mostly 12)
Extra shifts easy to pick up
Training: 2 days orientation; 2 or 3 ride-alongs
LEXXIOM
Fontana (LA), Corona (OC)
BLS/CCT
$9/hr straight time (OT after 10+ hours)
4 days per week/10 hours per day (also have 8 and 12 hour shifts)
Extra shifts available but not always abundant
PRN AMBULANCE
East LA/Glendale/North Hills (LA/LA City/OC)
BLS/ALS/CCT/NRT
10 11 12 hour shifts (11 most common)
$10/hour (OT starts after 8; double after 12)
4/3 weekly schedule (alternate 4 days a week and 3 days a week)
Training: 2 classroom days + 6 FTO days
Extra shifts easy to pick up
LIBERTY AMBULANCE
Downey (LA, LA City, OC)
BLS/ALS/CCT/Backup 911 for Downey
5/8 schedule (5 days a week, 8 hour days)
OT after 8 hours
$11/hr
2 weeks of training
Not a lot of extra shifts
Hopefully you guys can add more to this list. I know companies tend to vary pay per hour depending on how desperate they are to get new people, but it should stay pretty steady considering there are always a new supply of EMTs ready to work.
