Hello all, i don't know if im in the right thread but i had some questions
1.Do i have to take another test to get my LA county card?
2.can i walk in and just pay and where do i get a live scan?
3.Do i need my la country card to get hired, or can i get hired and obtain it.
please help!
1. No.* The "LA County Card" is just a state card from the county of los angeles.
* Unless you took an EMT school outside LA county, LA County requires you to have EMT expanded scope to work here. If you don't have it you can do it free online at UCLA School of Prehospital Medicine.
2. Pretty much. Any lives can facility will work.
3. A legitimate company will only hire you if you posses a State EMT card.
Please note there is no such thing as an LA County Card, just a State card given to you by a county employee.
Allow 30 days for your application to be received and processed.
Here is a hint, I live in Ventura and register with Ventura County. Its cheaper and I get my card the same day. Takes about 30 mins versus 30 days. Its valid in LA County because like I said, they are all state cards. I just needed to take my Expanded Scope because my EMT class was not in LA County and present that cert to my HR.
Even if you took EMT school in LA County, and there for have the expanded scope, you can still get your state card somewhere else and work in LA County. The requirements are State card and LA County Expanded scope. Where you get either of those no one cares.
