So in researching jobs here in Riverside, I've found that a lot of companies want us to have ICS certs. I vaguely remember my EMT instructor mentioning the general idea of ICS, but never mentioned classes or certifications. Could I get some direction on how to get those? Are they online? Do they cost money? etc.

Specifically for this particular job opening they request: "ICS: IS-100b, IS-200b, IS-700a"

Also, I'm looking at applying for AMR Riverside, Hemet, and San Diego. Any ICS certs that I need there as well?

AMR typically requires ICS 100, 200 NIMS 700, 800

100,200,700, and 800 are the standard. they are free kinda long and dry but free. A few merit badge courses and your ambulance operator/driver cert is usually required to

Merit badge courses?

Merit badge courses are things like ICS, ACLS, PHTLS, PALS, EKG, etc depending on your level (bls/als) and where you work.

Its just a name for all of those little courses we take to pad our resumes.

Useful knowledge to have. Also useful and necessary for joining the DRT ;)

Which is completely worth it lol. They changed the name to ERT (Emergency Response Team).
