Nice....

I give the same lecture on not tailgating me that TTLWHKR does...

The other day, running Class 3, had Mom tailgating us, my driver (a bleeping moron to begin with) ran a red light in town (no lights, no siren) after he tried to stop and couldn't see mom, she was so close behind.... se we went through, as did mom.....

I understand emotions are high with parents and other family who have relatives in the hospital... that is why I like to see if a neighbor can drive Mom/Dad/Son/Daughter to the ED after us, so that they aren't behind the wheel... Also, I like getting out fast enough that the family isn't in the car when we are pulling off..

Jon

I'd have had her arrested, just because.
Nah... I think my secondary wrote up the driver..... [/b][/quote]
Your what?

Your what

Secondaries are EMTs who aren't cleared to ride alone/run a call alone, right Jon?

Kinda whacky to me, I think PA told me you could be a secondary for years. I was running calls alone the week after my card came - ink still wet. :) Maybe not the ideal situation, but I didn't kill anyone. Or so I think.

Well, as a "Medic Student", he would be required to run w/ another Paramedic until he is granted reigns of a EMT-P certification. NR is completely optional B or P.

And EMT's age 16-17 may not run alone until they are 18 - by effect of Child Labor Laws and insurance company liability codes.

edit: too many 'or's

yeah..... some squads are willing to let you go play on your own, and some want to put you through a precepting program.... I was a secondary for 3 years.... my starting medic school got them to get the "committe" to get their butts in gear to approve me... (I pissed a lot of people off as a 16-year-old know-it-all superwhacker EMT)

Some of the secondaries are under 18, some just aren't approved yet...

As for my precepting time.... that's mostly over... I'm back to playing a BLS provider until I pass the registry..... :(
