I'm getting in the EMS field and I have that there are sooo many EMT-B programs out there now through so many private companies. I'm a single mom so I wanted to take the hybrid courses through UCLA, but are they really worth it? I know how hard I'm going to have to study. I'm just wondering if all these other EMT schools are legit? I found one in Orange County, Ca "OCCPR" with the perfect schedule for me...has anyone heard of this school or should I just stay away from all these privatr EMT schools altogether? Help! :/

I cant offer much of an opinion on those programs, but i can say that Crafton Hills College is number one in SoCal for their EMT program and offer a great education. Most of the course are only one day a week for only 8 hours and it runs about 16 weeks. There is currently a Monday class, Tuesday/Thursday class, Wedsnday Class (which I recommend), and Saturday Class. Maybe a Friday class.. so its very flexible.

Thank you! I'll look into it. Very much appreciated!

Find a program that will work for you. Generally you will get the education that you put into the program. If you feel a hybrid course is what will work best for you then go for it.

Also do some "shopping" around to make sure your not paying a huge amount. I've heard of several programs that cost ~$3,000. That is pretty high for an EMT course.

Hybrid courses used to all have a really bad reputation when they first got popular. Now they are becoming fairly normal for the industry.

Yes! I've been doing a ton of research for months to find the right school. I get too excited sometimes and just jump before I really know what I'm doing but I'm glad I took the time to really look into the right program! I have a few friends that are EMTs and they've given me the best advice they could, but they've been doing it for a long time now. I know things have changed since then. All the programs I've found are in the $1, 000-1,400 range which I was told is normal. The only school I found that was above that was an ROP program but they offer financial aid. Just not the right schedule for me since I have a little one to care for. Anyway, thanks a lot! I'm going to work my butt off wherever I go to make it happen.
