The 2005 Atlantic hurricane season just got a little bit busier, but no one is in danger this time.
National Hurricane Center forecasters upgraded Tropical Storm Cindy to a hurricane Thursday, nearly seven months after it hit southeastern Louisiana. That put last season’s tally at 15 hurricanes, extending the year’s record. Before then, 12 hurricanes in 1969 were the most on record.
Cindy turned out to have a small area of sustained winds that reached 75 mph, just 1 mph over the hurricane threshold.....
