have you tried applying as a campus aide in your local school district ???
i was having trouble trying to get hired to a company so i craigslisted a search as a guitar instructor and when i went in to interview they asked if i had any other training and i handed my emt paper work and they quickly offered me a "security" position at the after school program. i went from 9.75 an hour to 12.50 in a matter of mili seconds...
they even told me if i did a good job and the school liked me there was a good chance i could get hired by the school... Sept 2011 i started and Nov 2011 the school asked if i was interested and i said yes... Had to take another week long course but it was a breeze.
now i work guaranteed 12 hours a day (8 hours for LAUSD and 4 hours at the after school program same location) 5 days a week, summer break spring break and winter break off i get paid well and full benefits all thanks to my EMT creds.
Ive also been asked by my after school manager that if i wanted to earn extra money they would pay to send me to get certified to teach first aid and on my school session breaks i can do that and get paid ...
You might think that the title security is a drawback but your so much more then that..
you get calls about situations around campus
90% of the time your the first on call about EMS situations
Build relationships and trust with students and faculty
my 2nd day i had a student seize and just like training moved everything out of the students way and guide the students hands so she wouldnt get hurt...
fullfilling job and i love it.
check it out
