Currently a week into my EMT-B training class, and loving it. I've wanted to be a Paramedic for as long as I can remember. I just had a few questions for you guys...

A) How long did it take after you finished training to get an actual job as an EMT-B, and at what pay did they start you off?

B) How strict are most places about tattoos and hair? It's no big deal, I'm just wondering how soon I'm going to need to get a haircut.

C) How does one go about climbing the training ladder, and how long does it take to make it to EMT-P?
 
C. You can sign up for many Paramedic programs that have the emt basic in the first semester. Thus you never stop until you have made Paramedic.

A. Basics are a dime a dozen and pay is barely minimum wage in many areas.

B. Search tats and get your answer of what most professionals opinions of exposed tats are in the work place.
 
Thanks man. Mine are barely exposed, so hopefully I shouldn't have too much trouble.
 
Getting to EMTP depends a lot on your area, the rules and if you are doing it on your own or through your department. :)
 
I started at $11.20 /hr as an EMTB about 2 years ago...
my paramedic class was a little over a year long
it took me 2 weeks to get hired on as an EMTB after i passed registry
My company is VERY particular about tats and long hair.
