help needed with research for a fiction novel

Having worked a train vs ped, it is far from a "pink mist" the closest I can describe it was partial jelly, the person's body was intact, but there wasn't much skeletal structure to their right side. He was hit by a freight train, not exactly a passenger train, the call was received from the train's engineer to 911 dispatch, and they sent the cavalry, there was EMS, Fire, and PD walking the length of the train until we found him. The locomotives were approximately 3-400m beyond the body. We also initiated treatment on him, (think "no warm and dead until ER, warm and dead...") I believe we also had mutual aid from the Sheriff's department looking for the impactee. He was still breathing when we found him, apx 15-20min after the collision, but was agonal, and unconscious.
