I am an EMT-B in NJ. I have been an EMT and volunteering in a city for 2 years, the same amount of time I have been an EMT. I'm 20 y/o with a clean drivers license. I have been looking to get a paying job at medical transport companies but have not had much luck in the process. I send in apps, and either my age, my drivers license or my 2 years is an issue. Mind you I noticed plenty of young EMT's (maybe 19-20 age range.) working at these transport companies.I am a highly competent EMT, as many of us are.
My question is, how do I make my application a strong one. I feel like it is not strong enough for these places and it gets overlooked. What do they look for in an applicant?
Thanks in advance.

Be persistant. Call them after you submit your app. Keep bugging them until they give you an interview. If they say they are not giving you an interview its okay to ask why so you can meet the requirements they are looking for.
