With three dozen painters, fence menders and sod installers scurrying across Mary Law's front yard, it looked as if TV's ``Extreme Makeover: Home Edition'' show had landed in San Jose's Evergreen neighborhood this week.
The workers, off-duty San Jose firefighters, came out to give their amateur expertise and sweat to help the widow of one of their own: San Jose Fire Department arson investigator Booker T. Law, who died in 1990 at 46 after suffering an aneurysm.
