had a job interview

Good job :) Ohhh I hate rule of 9s...
Yes, me too. I never get them right! I know I i need up study! Lol.
I told CCA I can't do physical til Nov 3rd, as I found out my mom has cancer and I'm going to visit her in Oh next week. I'll call them when I get back. Hopefully the job will still be there, if not, it wasn't meant to be.

yay! job!

I did the agility test and then got called back a few hours later for the job @ CCA. And theyre having me skip wheelchair to go straight to ambualnce!! Woo! I go sign my life away next week. ^_^

aaaaaahhhhhh!!

 OMG, I start work Monday! I got asked to skip wheelchair and go right to ambulance. I will probably be hated by some people who wanted to get on ambulance and haven't been able to yet. Also, I am SO nervous. Hell.3 weeks of training. I can do this! ^_^

I have to ask, I've been doing this for a little while, but what are PENMAN and RNCHAMPS?

PENMAN is personal protection equiment, enviro hazards, # of pts, moi, addlt resources, need for c-spine

that was not one I had to learn here in MA

RNCHAMPS is types of shock
Respiratory
Neurogenic
Cardiogenic
Hypovolemic
Anaphylactic
Metabolic
Psychogenic
Septic

Thanks, never seen either of those before.

I feel like I should go into a long rant about the relative value of funky acronyms and actual understanding of the processes involved, and the way in which registry bodies and paramedic / EMT schools test. But I think everyone's heard it before. I'll save it for another day!

hahah

I'll be honest, I had to look up Penman because it wasn't something I learned. Also, RNCHAMPS was required to learn in class and it was tested on MA test, but its not an acronym used in the field. Apparently the Commonwealth has its OWN types of shock (?)

I agree w/ you on use of acronyms. As long as you know it, who cares how you remember it.

Hey, congratulations on the job! Sorry if I came across as a buzkill!

Dang, emts make 8/hr down in CA...

Some of the places I've applied at start EMTs at $7.50/hr and one starts at $7.85/hr. In Kentucky minimum wage is $7.25.

Anyways, congrats on the job Kate!
