Another storm is heading for the Gulf. The Gulf waters are warm enough to have this storm be on the scale of Ivan (for us) and Katrina (for NOLA). Oil platforms have been evacuated. Oil is up to $120/barrel.

I went into Wal-Mart and gas was $3.42/gallon. I came out less than 1 hour later and gas was $3.55/gallon!!!!!!

Good Luck to all the Gulf border states.

Since I'm paying 3.99 a gallon which is the lowest price all summer, tough to work up some pity for ya!

Gustav should be entertaining. I just got a phone call offer to deploy down south with the per-diem job's Disaster Response Team... but I had to turn it down because of other current commitments.

Its not the actual price that is so frustrating. Its the obvious jump when they know we are going to be getting it. Take Labor Day, a Hurricane in the Gulf, and another to follow shortly behind it and it won't be long before we are back to $4/gallon.

The price gouging hot lines will be hopping before the day is over!

You mean like the increase I'll see on Friday afternoon in preparation for the Labor Day Tourist crowd?

how did you get such offers?

Definantly! And to your regular tourist crowd you can have the ones that should be here for Labor Day weekend and anybody else that gets smart and leaves here in to get away from the weeks of no electricity, no A/C, no TV, no hot water, hour long gas lines, and all the luxuries that follow a storm.

Its like camping! MRE's and all....Only the FD's have generators, so we won't be without the XBox 360!! :P:P:P
