I am the pre-hospital coordinator for EMS in my subregion in Arizona. I am an RN and will be posting here for ideas and perspectives from the paramedic and EMT point of view.

Welcome! Good to have you around!

what exactly are you coordinating?

In my experience "coordinator" is the title given when the agency wants to get manager work out of you, but the term "manager" means you get extra pay or perks, they aren't willing to give.

An EMS Coordinator in Arizona is the person (either an RN or EMT-P) assigned to the base hospital to provide oversight of EMS for that areas and units served by that base hospital. We are part of a regional council that works on protocols, standing orders, medication lists for med boxes, and so forth. We serve as a liason between the Medical Director of EMS, the hospital and the EMS providers. We provide training, review practice patterns, deal with disciplinary issues of EMS personnel, and see that the approved protocols and standing orders are understood and followed.

Welcome to the site, any input will be welcomed.
