has anyone ever used the Glabellar Tap reflex to check for the presence of a gag reflex in an unresponsive patient?

No, nor do I check for an anal wink:rolleyes:.. Seriously, they are all reflexes although Glabellar is a primitive reflex versus superficial. Glabellar Tap is usely tapping between the eyes checking for blinking and deep core reflexes such as in use of sedation. Although, a great reflex, there are many that do not have it.. such as Down's Syndrome, TBI patients, and many different medication and those on substance abuse.

I am firm believer each Paramedic knows and understands Cranial Nerves and how to test them. There is an approved version of assessing and it takes maybe a whopping 30 seconds..but, it can detect and give such great information.
