Hey Guys,
So it's decided. If I don't get on with AMR in Portland, Oregon, as a medic in the next 6 months my wife and I will move. Where? Literally anywhere in the USA where AMR will hire me. (The hope is to transfer back to PDX after a few years.)

I would be willing to take a decent job in Portland, but I'm not a FF and let's just say I didn't see eye to eye with MW. :P Currently I work part time for a couple different agencies in central oregon, but they're 2.5 hours away. I've spent 5 hours driving for an 8 hour shift. Ugh. I also work for a big hospital up here, but it's 24 hours a week with mandatory benefits so I basically just get no money and really good health benefits. (Not bad, but I dunno if that's better than cash. I'll be a very healthy homeless person here soon!) I have applications out with several other hospitals but at this point, I have 3 jobs and I'm applying for my forth and fifth, I hope. Also taking college classes.

Anyway, just dropping a line out to any of my colleagues in the Pacific NW if you know of any job leads that have popped up lately; or what AMRs hiring cycle looks like.

And for any other AMR people out there, do they hire by phone? Right now my plan is just to apply for every single AMR Medic job listed on their site and go with where ever the :excl: they want to hire me at.

Feedback is welcome.
Thanks a ton!
(I know the PDX thread has been done before. I know whose in the area, I'm just feeling around for current news.)

ya its tuff man, I left PDX 3 years ago because I could not find full time work as a medic. I was sick of working part time barely making ends meet. I have friends with degree's who are paramedics working tech jobs in Portland. If your interested in overseas work, I might have a lead. PM your family status, years of ALS experience, if your a degree or certificate medic, and if you have any critical care experience or certificates.

acadian has a $7000 sign on bonus in baton rouge, la.

AMR will always take you back. Try EMSA in Oklahoma. AMR might be our private contractor soon anyways.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll definitely check out those companies. A 7K bonus sure sounds pretty sweet. :-D

acadian also has an in house medic program, so re-certs are no big deal.
