Email from the Director of the Division of Injury Response of the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control of the CDC - Richard Hunt, MD, FACEP.

Dear EMS Professional:

I am pleased to announce the availability of a FREE report and continuing education opportunity from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) titled, "Guidelines for Field Triage of Injured Patients: Recommendations of the National Expert Panel on Field Triage." This report, published in CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports (MMWR) provides key information on the "Field Triage Decision Scheme: The National Trauma Triage Protocol" (Decision Scheme) that can help aid you in your daily triage decisions for injured patients.

Join the Conversation -- FREE Webcast
This Wednesday, July 15th at 1pm EST, I will present a live Webcast to provide details on the Decision Scheme, as well as information on Advanced Automatic Collision Notification and its potential to help improve triage at the scene of a motor vehicle crash. I hope you’ll take a moment now to register for the Webcast.

Your opinions on the Decision Scheme are important, please visit CDC's Trauma Care Facebook page and post your comments.

The Decision Scheme has widespread support within the EMS and medical communities and has been endorsed by 17 professional organizations and associations, and received concurrence from NHTSA.

We greatly appreciate the work you do, responding to the challenges of caring for critically ill and injured patients across our country on a daily basis. Those decisions and your work really matter!
