Fix It! -- Why ambulance rides are so costly
Last October, as The Daily Journal Weekend Editor Tim Yonke was driving home from work, he was broadsided by a pickup truck that ran a stop sign. Police estimated the driver was going between 70 and 90 miles per hour.
The impact flipped Yonke's car, rolling it into an embankment, and pinning Yonke against the driver's-side door in his seat belt.
The Peotone Fire Department rescue squad used the Jaws of Life to free Yonke, then took him by ambulance to Provena St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee.
