I am having a hard time finding a job in western ky and southern indiana as a green emt. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to improve my chances? I passed my class with a high B and the NREMT on the first try.

Try calling local ambulances and/or submitting resume's to them. If no such luck try seeing if there are any volunteer departments you can get on to get some experience. Also I don't really think that grades matter a whole lot.

I didnt think that they really would its more about experience I figure. I have submitted resumes so hopefully it wil just be a waiting game, The thing that I think hurts me is I have been a stay at home mom of 3 kids until about a year ago and then went through a divorce and decided to fulfill my dream.

My advice is all of the above, plus this: See if there is some sort of non-traditional EMT job out there you can work in until you can get on an ambulance. I am currently working at an elderly apartment complex, as a security officer/EMT. I am managing to make professional relationships with the local transport crews. Using them, I managed to get a slot on their next pre hire test wednesday morning.

Am about to have to start the job search also, fortunately Summer is approaching and COS has a lot of tourist traps. One bit of advice my instructor gave me is to go to each of the agency offices in person to drop resumes instead of using the net or calling to ask if they're hiring. It will take a bit more time and fuel, but it shows initiative.
