Okay, I did some searching of the various forums and didn't find what exactly I was looking for. I will be starting an EMT-Basic class in August. I was wondering what (if any) "field work" I will be required to do during the course of my class? Will I need to do, like, ER rotations or run with an ambulance? I tried to look up what is involved on my school's website (www.contracosta.edu) but I couldn't find much of what I'm looking for. Thanks!

Likely a shift or two on a truck and 12 hours in an ER. Shouldn't be that much for a basic class.

EMED-110 Emergency Medical Technician I

This course provides the student with the knowledge and skills to
become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician I in the State of
California and meets state regulations for EMT-1 training. Students will
spend time in an emergency department and an ambulance.
May be
repeated two times.

Depends on your school / state.

Some require NO time. Some just a shift or 2. My school required 72 hours in an ambulance and 48 in an ER for EMT-B level.
