Ive noticed etmc has a 5k sign onbonus. Are worth it? Good protocols and pay? Why do they have a sign on bonus in the first place are they having trouble keeping their paramedics?

ETMC is not a bad service. I've worked for them. The kicker is the signing bonus will be divided into two payments. $2500 initially and another $2500 after two years.
However you won't be able to collect your signing bonus until after you complete orientation and your "medic" probation which lasts anywhere from 8 to 12, 24 hour shifts riding third out. Prepare to have the FTO quiz you in front of the patients and constantly question your abilities and they could really learn to communicate better.
And the pay isn't that low. My salary started at $54,104.09 All in all it's not a bad company. Working in conjunction with a Level 1 Trauma Center with adequate air support was also very nice.
