Welcome to EMTLife!

The EMT-Basic program is generally a skills-based program that can be completed in an academy-type program or through a more traditional semester long college-type program.

I'm a bit confused. It seems like you're wanting to be spoon-fed the information instead of taking some time to do basic research. I was able to get the information I posted above by simply searching our forum. It was all in one thread.

By following the link I posted first I was able to find the requirements for an EMT-Basic program.

A semester is generally four months long, while the EMT-Basic program generally isn't considered full time. You can take other courses too.

Google "California EMT-Basic pay" and you'll have a good idea of how much they get paid. There is a huge over-supply of EMT-Basics in most parts of California, which means you'll be making near minimum wage.

We should add the UCLA EMT school to the list.
I can usually tell when a student ride-along is from that school before asking. I'd say pretty much all of them have left great impressions on me.

I've also gotten a good impression from the "Baldy View ROP" EMT graduates who have come to work for our company. Not sure exactly where it's located, though...close to Los Angeles.

Being 18 and wanting to go EMT is fine. I just hope you know what your getting into, cause in California the pay isn't that great depending on where you are. If you are getting into this field of work, i hope your getting in it for the right reason and not money. I don't want to be harsh and no disrespect but you should do some research and check out the class. We have some 20 years old and under in my class and some of them didn't take it serious enough, i'm not saying you will. Just trying to give you enough insight and not waste your time.

Baldy View ROP is in Ontario, very western San Bernardino County. One can google the program if they want the address.
