Hey Everyone,

So the school i'm currently going to has an option where instead of doing a clinical or two, you can take an all day skills lab and it will count as your clinical.

From what I understand, it helps save you money due to the drug test, Fees, immunizations, etc.

Does anyone else have this program available to them and if so how did you like it?

Would you prefer a setup like this or the old-fashioned clinical?

An advantage of clinicals is that you're exposed to the actual practice of medicine. During one of my EMT clinicals, I followed an ED doc around. I didn't get to do much, but it was pretty educational.

Yeah, clinical and ride alongs are to get you out of the classroom and see how it's done in the real world away from PowerPoint lectures...i can't fathom how replacing that with yet another day of skills testing is beneficial to the student. I've never heard of that being an option anywhere before, and if it were available here, I would not take that, nor recommend that.

Waste of time in my opinion. I always push for students to participate in as many clinicals/ride alongs possible.
