Hey all,

I am moving to Colorado in the fall, and I had some questions for you folks. I am moving outside of Boulder, to Longmont hopefully. I am looking at the Front Range Community College for my EMT-B. Does anybody have first hand experience with this course?

Also, I am wondering about life after EMT-B, in terms of medic school. Again, does anybody have first hand experience with medic schools in this part of Colorado?

I understand that the only major trauma center is in Denver, but what does this mean for EMS jobs around the Boulder area?

Thanks in advance

1. I did not attend FRCC's program, but several of my friends and colleagues went through and I've heard generally good things about it.

2. There are several medic schools out here. FRCC has an AAS program. In the Denver area, there's St. Anthony's, HealthONE, and Denver Health - all hospital-based programs. Of course there are others, but those are the big ones.

3. Both Boulder and Longmont have level III trauma centers. Don't see why this would affect jobs though. I have a friend who works as a "trauma tech" (EMT-B ) in Boulder, but don't count on getting a job in the hospital. Out here, those positions are usually pretty competitive and they prefer people with experience and those that have both their EMT-B and CNA and/or medics. I would look into Pridemark. It's a private ambulance service that is the primary 911 for Boulder County. I rode with them during EMT school and was impressed.
