Passed my EMT-I Practicals today! B) :) Only missed two points out of all the stations, on my trauma assessment. Pt was unconscious with a HR of 106 and a BP of 116/78 so I made the choice to not manage shock, because he didn't present as shocky so missed a point on that and I didn't ask for a SAMPLE history do to him being unresponsive. Pretty simple mistakes that I should have caught but hindsight is 20/20.

I'm pretty stoked, now just the National Registry test and some paperwork stands between me and my NVEMT-I cert :)

Strong work, keep it up and get into medic school if you aren't already ;)

I thought not treating for shock on the trauma station was a critical fail???

Applying for the Medic school starting in July. Entrance testing and interviews this spring.

It's not a critical fail. It comes at the bottom of the circulation section. IMO treating for shock in this pt would have caused more harm than good. I left out specifics above, but he had a obvious depressed skull fx, bleeding with a positive halo test from ears and nose and his left pupil was fixed and dilated. I was thinking his ICP was headed upwards and he was hemodynamically stable so no reason to jam more fluids into him and place him in trendelenburg's and further increase the ICP. The only thing I could think of would have been to cover him with a blanket when I transported him but it just slipped my mind.

Am I wrong in thinking this way?

Good job, man! Be proud!

When I took the Intermediate testing I did it ALL in one day. 150 question test and then the 4 practical stations. It was A LONG DAY.
