Hey all, first things first, when i registered i noticed "An email has been dispatched to your email address" - i see what you did there.

I'm in seattle, hopefully starting my EMT-B class this winter. They wont know what the day class schedule will be, but i'm hoping it will accomodate me, because i work a 230-11pm swing shift :/

I've always seen myself as someone that was put on this earth, to help people and in certain cases, keep them from being put into the earth :p.

I'm wondering how you all feel about carrying a "go bag" in your vehicle for basic first aid needs, i have a cpr cert, and basic first aid cert. what is too much and what is too little?

What is the hardest part of the NREMT exam? i'm nervous about going into the EMT-B class because it's an entirely new set of skills of which i have a limited knowlege

in closing, i chose this career because i want to give back to my community, and wake up knowing that today, i'll make a difference in someone's life.

Depends on where you take the class. If it's through a CC, like North Seattle, it's usually two weeknights from 1730 - 2000 and all day Saturday.

Many threads about it here. Don't do it. Waste of money.

Both the skills and didactic are simple rote memorization and repetition.

Good luck in class. I think you're in for a rude awakening as to what this job is all about. Spend some time talking to some of the AMR or TriMed EMTs in Seattle and ask them about the job.
