Thanks to everyone for your responses but I would like to get my thread back on track. My original question went something like this:
How do you think is the best way to prepare for the EMT-I class? Should I really study the EMT-B to get better at basic skills, or would it be better to read over the EMT-I book to get a better understanding of what will be taught during the EMT-I class?
Thank you,
Id make sure that i had a good grasp of my Basic skills first and foremost, especially trauma assessments. It really cant hurt anything to read ahead in the Intermediate materials but i wouldnt say that its necessary.
A lot of what you learn (at least, in my experience) comes from the lab sessions where you get to learn about advanced airways, IOs, megacodes, etc. Its a lot of information to learn on ones own and it may seem overcomplicated if you attempt to teach yourself.
Id absolutely read over it, but i wouldnt stress about learning everything before class starts. Thats what your instructors are for!
