Does anyone know if ALL EMT/AEMT programs in GA work like this: You have ONE chance to fail a final and if you fail that final you retest and if you fail that retest you get kicked out of the class and have to start over again, resulting in lots more $$$ being payed out?????? I am very curious about this and am trying to search through my options. Thanks in advance.

I take it you just experienced this?

I can tell you I recently relocated to Georgia from MS and was an EMT. I talked to some good departments in my area and was directed to an already ongoing EMT/AEMT class. They had been in the class since last year, and I jumped in on the last 6-7 weeks. It was grueling, and I really had to dig down to complete all of the testing, get my clinicals in, and pass. If you want, PM me and we can go from there. Not sure how much I can help, but I can tell you my experience and we can compare notes.

I think it is pretty standard practice. In my program the pass for tests/exams/courses was a B or 80%(my program was through a CC) You needed an 85 overall to sit for the comprehensive final. The pass on the final was 80, if you scored over 70 you got 1 re write.

This is not a Georgia requirement, bit most of the higher level classes have started to set a "drop factor" as it is required to be assured we are putting the best base knowledge personal out of school to start the true learning process. Thais should encourage students to take a different view of the field that they have chosen to become a professional in remember a true profession is not something easily obtained. I am located in Ga you can contact me if you wish I could recommend a few great schools for you to match you learning style

This all makes sense...yea, in my class you had to make a 75 or better on a final to pass and if you failed you had to retest and if you failed the retest then you have to start back over again. What happened with me is i got to the very end where we were taking the whole basic EMT final practicals in the classroom..well i failed a few of the critical things and in a nutshell i got real nervous in front of these ppl and failed out. I knew this stuff and did some ride alongs and did great in the field, but in the classroom was difficult to me at times. I plan to start over in Jan. Our class was EMT/AEMT combined. The 1st 6 months was the basic and if i wouldve passed and got to go to registry and passed that the nxt 6 months wouldve been the advanced portion. Thanks you guys :-)
