I made it into and out of school right before the raised the standard of care. I didn't understand that when i received my state certification for both TN, and CA I only had two years to make the transition to AEMT or EMT-P. I got into EMS with the understanding that I wanted to become a paramedic and a firefighter in the long run. I realize now that i have less than two years to complete my medic school and pass my national registry. I don't want to wast my time on AEMT when i have been excepted to my medic program that is a year and a half long. is anyone else running into problems like mine? Tennessee has really high standard for all EMS.

Huh? I don't quite understand what you're asking here.

You have 2 recert cycles, 4 years, to bridge from EMT-I/99 to EMT-P, otherwise you have to take a transition course, which is usually included in your refresher, to keep your EMT-I/85 (goes to AEMT) or EMT-B (goes to EMT). I'm not actually srue what you're talking about either though, your post doesn't make much sense

I have been confused on everything. i was told that as an EMT-B i would have to do AEMT before my recert at 2 years.

No. They don't. At least not per registry.
