EMS in michigan must suck...

in arkansas basics make 7.25 and medics make 9.00 and thats pretty much all over the state so most companys have 24 hr shifts 48 and 72 hr shifts an average person both medic and emt work 168 hrs every 2 weeks

Hark if I wasn't already enrolled in Medic school here I would be on my way to your great state. How many feet of snow do you guys get a year? LOL. I think I would trade my snow and unemployment rate for lower wages and some tornadoes. Our basics here also make minimum wage but that's for a 24/24 car. 12, 10.5, and 8 hour cars make more per hour.

the other good thing about working in arkansas is there is always a place hiring for both emt and medic

SE Michigan also has a fair job market for Basic and Medic, even during the tough economic times. Hiring trends go up and down based on contract ups and downs more so than anything else. Some company is always hiring, firing and laying off in the area because contracts change hands constantly. EMS is not in a hurry to change the way they do business so expect these trends to continue for a good while yet.
