Hi everyone,

I'm working on a project, and have some questions for anyone involved with a Boy Scout Explorer Post or Venture Crew (this is a scouting-related project I'm doing... so I need BSA-affiliated help).

I'm trying to find out what type of first aid training your group does, and WHY they do it... what the goal of the post/crew is, etc.

feel free to PM me.

THANKS!

Jon

We han an explorer post for the FD, they pretty much do every thing covered in FF1 & 2, and than the "tricks of the trade" It pretty much makes you a better fire fighter.

yea, I don't have much advise for an EMS based explorer post, we have an explorer post in our FD, and they are basically scene support, they can't go interior until they are 18, take FF1 and wait their probie year, anyways most of the explorers were in local EMS junior squads anyways...

I loved my explorer post when I was in highschool. We had our meetings every saturday morning and we also got to go to all calls after we completed basic training and knowldge of sceen support, first aid/cpr, aed and oxygen and also a burns and blood borne pathogens course. We would go over trucks and equiptment, had medivac come in and we could intern with them if so choose. What we mostly did call wise was got hoses, rolled up hoses, and got water or whatever else for the FF going into the burn. We got to do a house burn once with a Fire1 guys in full gear and we got to go into the first part of the burn, after we had a wall exploded they wouldnt let us in anymore though. It taught me alot and I hope to get involved in an explorer group again once I join a department down here
