It's another driving record thread! I know there's a lot of them because that's how I found the site.
Not to revive an old discussion, but I would like opinions.

It happened something like this:
1. traffic ticket when I was 18 or 19 in Arizona
2. ticketed for driving without license / insurance in Michigan @ 20. Was unable to see the judge because the insurance actually had a gap in it (of 1 week). I didn't have my license on me, though it was valid and current. I was only pulled over for a missing headlight, which died earlier.
3. crashed my car leaving Michigan from another visit . was given two tickets including driving with a suspended license, failure to maintain my car. I didn't realize my license wasn't reinstated from the prior ticket - I paid it off but never got told I had to pay an additional fee. (note: I believe the accident was the fault of a semi truck driver, but the cop seemed to need to fill his quota)
4. paid all the tickets, moved back to Michigan after completing EMT school
5. attempting to obtain Michigan drivers license and was told I had to pay 1200 dollars in additional fees. They never notified me of these fees once again. Am currently scrambling to figure out how to pay it. I need the license about 2 weeks ago because I am currently going to interviews to be an EMT.
6. I only have a fender bender on my insurance record, no police were involved. this was also 3-4 years ago. it was a minor collision in a parking lot.

I am actually a very careful driver, so it's sad to see my record in shambles.

is this going to affect my employment?

Can I take a driving class, or see a judge? anything?

Yeah your record will definitely affect your employment options with most companies as their insurance will probably not want to insure you driving. Don't know if taking a driving course or seeing a judge will do anything. Best advice is get your fines and fees paid, then don't get any tickets or accidents for a few years. That should help with being able to get insured by the ambulance company's insurance provider.

It has been two years since the last incident, will this have any kind of positive effect?

Just food for thought, employers are probably more likely to look past some of your prior mistakes if you accept responsibility and show an improvement, as opposed to blaming everyone else and habitually making the same mistakes over and over.

On that note - If it effects your insurance, it's going to effect the company's/departments insurance even more.

I would say the 3,000 dollars in tickets and fines I have paid more than demonstrates taking responsibility of the situation. I am not "blaming everyone else", I blamed another driver for assisting me in wrecking my car *one time* and leaving the scene. you don't know me so there is no need to talk to me like a child. furthermore, I only repeated the mistake of not paying the additional fee one time, so that part of your post is inaccurate too. you are just a negative and rude person.

Each incident that happened you listed a reason as to why it should not have been your fault, they weren't calling you a child. Simply stating that you should be approaching this issue with your driving as "I've made some mistakes and am working on fixing them". We've all been in similar situations the difference is we accepted that we were responsible for them and know what needs to be done to correct them and executed it. Employers know people aren't perfect, what they look for in a potential employee is one who recognizes that and can articulate how they are going to go about fixing that.

I highlighted in bold the parts I was referring to in my previous post if you care to took.

Unless i was very desperate in needing body to sit in ambulance, i wouldn't never hire anyone with your driving record. Suggest you look at non ambulance job for few years. 2 year of not having any incident on your record is not enough time.

you are just a negative and rude person.

If you get so easily upset whenever someone says something you don't like, you're going to have a rough time in this career field. Before seeking employment in EMS, you need to not only address your driving record, but your attitude and maturity as well. There's little room for victimizing yourself and blaming other people for your actions in a field where the well being of others rely on your actions and judgement.

You asked if youre driving record would hurt your chances of employment, and asked what you could do. I answered your question. I told you it would effect it, and I told you changing your attitude about it and accepting responsibility would be a step in the right direction to helping the predicament that you put yourself in.

I understand it was not the answer you were hoping/looking for - but it is what it is.

any company would be out of their mind hiring someone with a record like that in a short amount of time. Keep putting years between your last incident.
