Hi I'm new to the board. I recently failed my NREMT exam and have now got to go back to school again. Which I will be doing ASAP. I was wanting to get into a private company driving and I was wondering if anyone could give me any insight into how far back of a driving record companies will ask for down here in South Carolina?thanks for all of your help!

What is your concern with your driving record?
Typically 3 years are on the DMV driving record.

Well what I was asking was will the company usually ask for a 3 year or 10 year driving record?

Call the company and ask?
I've never known a private agency to ask for anything other than a 3 year driving record.

Both of the privates that I've worked for have required a 10 year DMV print out.

Well my 3 year looks a lit better than my 10 year. I am only 23 and when I was young I got into a few wrecks. When I first started my EMT. class 2 years ago (long story) I went and applied at a private company. I was hired and then had to give them a copy of my 10 year driving record and was told their insurance wouldn't cover me even though out of all of this I don't have a single point on my license and my insurance has not gone up. I didn't even try to get on with anyone else, but was wondering if it would even be worth trying to get on anywhere else or not?

Honestly, call the services you are looking at getting hired on with. See what they require.

Okay. So you think I could still get hired on at a place? My 3 year only has an accident that I was not at fault for. I don't even have any tickets or anything. If they take a 3 year you think I would get hired with that?

When I applied to/and got successfully hired on at the company for which I worked/work, I had two accident on my record. Granted five years has lapsed since my last accident.

I don't know your situation specifically, but again, I would suggest applying and let the companies be the ones to tell you yes or no... not some individuals on an anonymous forum.

Understandable. I just got discouraged when I got turned down the first time. I just wanted opinions on the matter lol. You have all been great help!
