Hello all. A little background I have been a paramedic for 8 months or so working at a local hospital and part time in a local fire ems department (just ems). I have also been a volunteer firefighter for the past 6 years.
I applied for the DC paramedic job that was posted several weeks ago and I am hoping some of you can help answer some of these questions I have.
1. What is the shift scheduled?
2. Are ambulances posted on corners or do they have a station?
3. I hear they are not in the local firefighters union, do they have strong representation with their union?
4. Whats the work environment like? Not so much interaction with the public but what are the relationships between the firefighters, EMS providers and the administration?
5. Lastly working as a single role provider do you ever have the opportunity to become a duel role paramedic/firefighter? If so is it like a transfer or do you start from square one when applying?
Thanks!
