Does anyone know anything about Critical Care Transport in Columbus Ohio? It seems like a decent company to work for from what i have read on there website. Medics get a 2k$ sign on bonus to.

I haven't worked there but know 3-4 people who do. All of them had nothing but good things to say, but none of them had plans of staying there long-term. It was more of a "stepping stone" to get somewhere else, but they seriously spoke very highly of their experience there.

^^ thank you I hope to set up an interview with them soon. They look like a good company, they have nice equipment and looks like they invest back into the company to improve.

Private EMS? Depends on your preferences as working as an EMT, for this type of work will be mostly predictable and on the less-chaotic side of EMS, presumably it will pay less but you will most likely have pre-assigned transports. Check into Mobile Martin in Cleveland as well (if you like Cleveland at all).

My understanding is that they are 75% private and 25% 911.

While they may get some emergent calls to facilities, there are no privates in Columbus that take 911 calls.

ETA with the exception of rural metro who has the airport.

I don't recall how their 911 calls work exactly, but i think it's a matter of 911 calls being relayed and handled by the private EMS company, being that they are coming from, say, a nursing home/facility that is contracted with the private EMS agency.

I don't mean to split hairs here, but the only way privates get emergency calls is if they're dialed direct by the facility. 911 is run entirely by the various fire departments, including dispatching. If 911 is called, FD EMS will be sent.

If you get slightly outside of central Ohio, then you have a much higher chance of being private EMS and doing 911. There's also a handful of entities around central Ohio that are EMS only, most notably Fayette County EMS, Madison County EMS, and Delaware County EMS, all of which are pretty great entities with good reputations.
