Does anyone know how long it takes to become a certified BLS healthcare provider CPR/AED Instructor?

Per AHA website
"# Complete the Core Instructor Course.
# Complete a discipline-specific instructor course in Basic Life Support (BLS), Heartsaver, ACLS, PALS.
# Get monitored by an American Heart Association Training Center or Instructor. "
So however long it takes you to finish those.
My school is 8hours cd, 8 hours class, and you teaching 2 classes.

from healthcare provider..which i had..to CPR instructor took 9 hours.
keep in mind that as an instructor you are only allowed to instruct up to the level youve achieved..

Red Cross CPR
back in the late 80's I became a Red Cross CPR instructor. it was a weekend class. I think it was 7-8 hrs a day. so, 14-16 hrs total. after several years i quit when the RC changed the program and wanted everyone to retake the instructors class..
few years later, I found out the AHA did all the research and developement on what works and what needed to be changed. The RC was like a puppy following the big dogs around..
that was long before AED's were even thought of in every police car.

I'm interested in doing this as well, but their website is pretty vague on how to do the Core Instructor class. Or maybe it was the fact that I read it in the A.M. Idk, I still plan to pursue it though.

I teach for the ARC and it's about the same time commitment and procedure as previous replies. I really enjoy teaching. Good luck.
Over the past twenty years I have taught for both AHA and ARC but currently only BLS courses for AHA. The simplest way to get started towards a teaching cert is to call the AHA ofice that trained YOU. Name of the Training Center should be on your card and they are likely to be looking for new blood. They should be able to set you up and get you on track fairly quickly. Good luck.
