Nothing new. I have heard those stories for years, usually when some rookie Firefighter or someone else who thinks they know it all believe that they can quiken the whole process by movie the bodies out of the way so that they can continue on with their job. This is especially true in regards to vehcile accidents where there is major road blockage. Fire or even Highway Patrol will get the idea to move the body out of the vehicle so that they can get the raod cleared quickly. In my area the coroners had some issues with that in the past, but now everyone seems to follow the basic rule that the Coroner has to be on scene first unless it is neccessary to remove a body to access a living patient...

I accuse Quentin Tarentino of moving corpses.

Sorry, sometimes I just HAVE to respond to the headlines! Press on...

I have to agree that the Coroner's complaints are very vague (at least in the article). If this is such a big issue he should be able to produce specific cases as examples. That way they can be reviewed and it can be determined if the body was really moved at all, and if it was a justified action on the part of the first responders, and properly documented by them.

If a person isn't obviously dead the EMS crews are going to need to confirm or work it. Sometimes that requires moving the body off a bed, or out of a cramped bathroom. I've always been taught that this is ok as long as you document the heck out of it. Even including a diagram of where you found the pt if necessary.
