Yeah, I'll probably just call the program director over there and see what they have to say. I didn't see any classes other than the initial EMT class and the Basic Refresher.
That is probably all you need. I have taken a refreasher once because I forgot to get my CEu's together in time and had to take 3 8-hours days of refreasher within 2 weeks of my cert expirering. NOT THAT I RECOMMEND THAT!!! Nowadays I am in the same boat you are. I don't work for an agency that is a CEU provider, an I am forced to find my own CEUs. Here's what I recommend for CEUs:
1. Check around to see if there are any local agencies that do in service CEU training sessions. My local Ambulance agency offered to allow our people to sit in on their sessions whenever we like and they will provide CEUs. Check in with Ambulance/Fire/Hospital Clinincal Coordinators or Training Officers and see if such a thing is allowed. Beyond the CEUs, it is great education and refreasher, which is a BIG THING in EMS. If you are not learning all the time... get out of EMS. IMHO!
2. Online CEUs are usually allowed (for some of your total). While not my favorite choice of learning method... it will do in a pinch, but don't make it a habit. You will have to pay for your CEUs this way, but you can pick up a few stray free CEUs online. Try
http://www.emcert.com/tour-free.aspx and
http://www.ems-ceu.com/courses/curriculum_ems_category.htm. When I am feeling board, I go there to see if they have anything new being offered for free. If nothing else... you get a little more of that pesky education.
3. The refreasher courses offered by many EMT schools will meet the requirements for the total amount of CEUs. You will probably be craming in these hours and won't learn much new, but in a crunch it gets the job done. Check with the instructor or course cataloge to verify this. And try in the future to get the CEUs over the course of your 2 year cert. 2 hours here, and hour here, a seminar there... get your CEUs in the course of increasing your EMS knowledge.
