Construction Emergency Medical Technician Job Description

Position Description:

Position Responsibilities:
 Responding to emergencies efficiently and promptly
 Administering basic first aid and medical support to patients, in accordance with federal, state, local and company policy and regulations
 Assessing the nature and extent of injuries/illnesses to prioritize medical procedures
 Effectively communicating with medical professionals and treatment facilities to obtain instructions regarding further action
 Effectively communicating with client and site personnel regarding any worksite incidents, hazards, etc
 Demonstrating a strong orientation towards team work and the ability to understand the importance of team coordinated efforts
 Demonstrating a strong ability to be cognoscente of the constantly changing worksite environment and construction site hazards
 Ensuring that quality, clinical standards are practiced at all times
 Documenting all findings and treatments clearly and concisely
 Conducting oneself in a helpful, dignified and professional manner regardless of stress level and personal circumstances
 Assisting the Site Safety Managers and Personnel in maintaining the most safe and secure work environment possible

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

The position requires significant physical strength and dexterity and the ability to function in very adverse environments with exposure to numerous safety risks typically found at emergency scenes.

The following guidelines are used to describe the frequency of activities in this position: Occasionally equals 1%-25%; Frequently equals 25%-50%; and Continuously equals 50%-100% of a typical work day.

 Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs - Frequently
 Must be able to stand/walk continuously – Continuously
 Must be able to climb stairs – Frequently
 Must be able to climb up and down ladders – Occasionally


Emergency Medical Technician Job Description
Position Qualifications:

 EMT Certification – State and/or National – Must provide proof of reciprocity
 2+ years minimum active EMT experience
 MUST hold a minimum of a valid OSHA 10 Construction Certification
 Construction background or previous knowledge is a plus
 Proficient in Microsoft Office
 Good driving record
 Flexible schedule
 Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification; Any additional certifications are a plus
 Knowledge of OSHA Recordability and Worker’s Compensation a plus
 Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with client and employees

Just a question, I have a buddy who has been a firefighter for several years...but finally is getting his EMT this summer (completing his state test in a couple weeks)


Would you take that experience in place of the EMS? He did EMS but only as a first responder not as an official EMT.

do you have an email address that I could pass along to him?
