Well, there are a few things that were comical, but the final outcome was not comical. I went on a clinical with our local EMS service Wed. I walked in at 0745 and by 0802 we had 3 busses out on calls, and one on a transfer. My bus got a simple medical complaint from the nursing home. We took her into the ER. Another bus got a Full Cardica Arrest. The P-Med wanted to pronounce her when they arrived, but to sastify the family went ahead and worked her. My bus waited at the ER to help the CA bus when they came in. (Keep in mind that I went to school with several of the medics that were running that day, and all of us are real close due to them working hand in hand with my dad) Anyway, when they arrived one of the medics told me to push CPR on the way in. The bed was too high for my 5 foot short body so my frined told me to stand on the shelf under the bed. Just imagine tiny little ole me in this position... One foot on the shelf, the other leg hiked up on the bed with the patient for leverage, one hand on the guard rail for support, and one hand working on CPR. One of the medics was holding a tube they inserted for the puke to come out one person was baggind and pushing the bed, another medic was at the end pulling and then there was one of my friends (male) behind me pushing the bed with one hand and the other on my butt to balance me from falling over. The only reason that I did not straddle the pt on the bed was because I was too short to hop on. It was quite an expierence, and made for some laughter after we returned to the station. One of the medics who had been with this service for 5 years said that he had never seen a student hop up on the bed with the pt to do CPR and thought it was the coolest thing that I just hopped right in there to help out.

But... ( in every good story there is a but...) that is not the funniest part.

This lady was 76, and had implants in the chest region. So not olny was I halfway in bed with her, but I had the hardest boobs in the way that I have ever seen in my life to deal with. One of my friends later asked what I thought about having the only "perky" part of her body sticking straight up in my face as I was dodging puke to do CPR. We all got a big kick out of it.

Needless to say the fact that the lady had been gone for so long she didn't last. She did however come back to us, and coded in the ER. Her husband came in and asked if she was dead. One of the medics explained that things didn't look good. He said "Ok, just cremate her and tell them to call me after they have burned her."

What a great way to start the morning! I though you all may get a chuckle out of the story. Anyone else have a story to share along the same lines???

What else do you all do on calls?

I think I am working the wrong state!

How did I know that a comment would be made along the lines of that? LOL
