I am confused why a first responder/FD wasn't dispatched. Or if they were dispatched, why couldn't they move the patient to the chopper instead of waiting for ALS? --or at least package the pt. Why did it take 30 minutes to package the patient? Are there some areas in the country where FD isn't dispatched to an MVC?

As I am new to EMS I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this. If anyone can find additional articles I'd like to know. Thx

I think it's best to wait until some more information comes out. It's easy for a journalist to write piece that sensationalizes the story instead of reporting the facts... all the facts.

some interesting questions.................

I have read a few of the comments here and on another site and it seems to be an issue that affects thousands of services around the country; too many calls strapping the available resources.

It is a distressing time for the family and my thoughts and prayers are with them, but sometimes bad things really do happen to good people. Too many factors on both sides for me to comment on.

I'm willing to bet even if he was flown to the hospital 10 minutes after the crash, he would still be in a vegetative state.
