Hey everyone. I am currently an NJ MICP/NREMT-Paramedic. I grew up in Chicago and have been thinking of moving back to work as a medic. Anyone here work for CFD? I am looking information on single role medic positions and FF/Paramedic position. How often do they pull from the applicant list? What is the salary like? How easy is it to get promoted to FF from paramedic? What are the shifts like? How are the ALS protocols in Chicago? Get back to me. Thanks

3250?
You got certified right after me, 3247.

Forget about CFD. Politics, the race card, and lawsuits have all but ground their hiring to a halt.

Where you working at now?

That is pretty disappointing to hear. I am currently in New Jersey working for UMDNJ in Newark and St Joseph's Medical Center in Paterson. Both hospital based systems.

Haha but you know that. I didn't read the top of your post. Where are you out of?

AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Cape May and Atlantic Counties.
I'm in the hiring process for Orange County (Fla) Fire.
Since you're UMDNJ, why not stay here?
You got state pension and benes.
Thats one of the major reasons I'm going south, to where Medics are treated well.

Thats sort of the same reason I am trying to head out of the state. I am fully aware that UMDNJ gives state benefits but I want some variety in what I do for the rest of my life. Thats why I was kind of hoping to hear something a little more positive about CFD.

Look at the Carolinas or Fla.

Anywhere warm!
haha

Don't waste your time, come out to LA and work for a real department, and have sun 365, plus we the beach and chicks in bikinis, great shifts and cash.

Isnt it next to impossibel to get hired out there right now?
