Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if the DOT physical examination can be performed by my own primary care physician.

The DL51 form says that, " Beginning May 21, 2014, interstate commercial motor vehicle drivers must have their medical examination performed by a certified medical examiner listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiner list."

Since I'm applying for EMT work that would only be within California (intrastate) am I exempt from using the aforementioned list of registered physicians? I've called around for the nearest registered physicians and their physicals cost a lot more (20$ vs 200$) for a DOT physical.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Ask your PMP if he/she does DMV physicals. They should know. Otherwise, the Occupational Health office of your hospital or several clinics do them.

I had mine done by a chiropractor on that list and it was accepted. I can't remember the price but it was less than $75.

yeah my doctor says he does the DOT examination but when I tried looking him up he wasn't on the list... friggin doctors. Not sure if it'll actually work or if he's just trying to get my copay -_-

has anyone had their own primary care physician do the medical exam for them? a physician that wasn't registered
