I don't know if any of you remember hearing about all the homes with blue tarps on them after being hit by the hurricanes.

If you do a google map search of Arcadia, FL and zoom in you will see all the homes with tarps on them. Pretty sad.

probably Home Depot's biggest windfall since they sold us all that duct tape eh?

Does that mean the insurance co didn't pay claims, or that the people took the insurance money and did other things?

Those pictures are not live. They were probably taken sometime soon after the hurricane. While I'm sure there are some blue roofs still here and there, most have been fixed by now.

I thought they were marked with blue tarps to signify to aerial crews there were people inside. (If its not- then it sure would be a good idea because blue shows up very well against the earthen background.)

And I wish I could see current aerials of Nola.

No... the FEMA Blue Roof project is/was a way to get a temporary roof on a house with roof damage, until the insurance money comes through, and a contrator is found to put a real roof on.

Fun with triage tarps.

Just think how fun your could make your house look with red, green, yellow and black tarps.. and spools of the same colored triage tape.

After IVAN there was such a shortage of tarps a billboard company had a great idea.

The billboards they make are out of a heavy duty vinal. If you agreed, they would come out and install their old billboards on your roof for you at no cost. The only catch is, your roof now became a billboard for which ever advertiser that particular sign was for.

It was a huge success around here.
