During her two years as an emergency medical technician and paramedic in Chicago, Kim Woodward saw it all. "Everything from the funny drunks to the seriously ill," she said.
Twice she delivered babies. Once she saved a man who had overdosed and received nothing but profanities for her effort. "He cussed me out because I ruined his 40-dollar high," she said.
The Gulf War and pregnancy detoured her from her ultimate goal, which is to get a nursing degree and find a job working in neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care or an emergency room. "I love adrenaline," she said.
