But we are all in agreement that techs do make diagnoses, and the teachers who say otherwise are cretins? Righto.

Nursing and nurses have historically been like putty, we fill in wherever and do whatever is needed. We have tried to keep some sort of floor under the preparation for nursing, but it's leaky; anybody who can meet some basic adult ed standards can start a certificate mill. Nursing may have the BCLEX and "nursing diagnoses", but they do not control the schools or credentialing.
 
It's threads and posts like this that make me strive to become a better provider and student.
