I am wondering how to deal with this situation on our ambulance.
Was paged out to transport a pt that has a history of seizures, was on a ton of meds and admitted to smoking pot that morning. Has a brain tumor.
As I was driving to the medical center to pick this pt up my ambulance manager is with me and starts rolling their eyes and complaining about this pt.
Not a "frequent flyer" pt.
Pt has a seizure in the back of the ambulance with me and after coming out of it starts fighting me. Get pt calmed down and to the next ER.
We are sent to a room and 2 ER nurses come up. Manager has the cot raised as high as it will go. Takes the 2 nurses out of the room leaving me with the pt who has another seizure and almost falls off the cot. I am trying to hold the pt down and I could hear the manager telling the nurses how crazy this pt is and several other nasty remarks.
It is coming across to me that this manager has no caring for our pt's and it is concerning me. Yes I have dealt with pt's that I do not like but I have never pulled everyone out of a room to bad mouth one to others.
